Having announced his full cast last week, director James Gunn has now confirmed that cameras are rolling on The Suicide Squad, Warner Bros. and DC Films’ follow-up to the 2016 supervillain team-up from David Ayer.
Gunn responded to a fan question on Instagram this past Friday about the production start date by revealing that filming was already underway on the movie, with the filmmaker subsequently sharing a photo of himself along with new cast members Flula Borg, Daniela Melchior, David Dastmalchian, Jennifer Holland, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn and Maylin Ng.

The Suicide Squad is set for release on August 6th 2021 and features a cast that includes the returning Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag) and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) alongside new DCEU additions Idris Elba, Peter Capaldi, John Cena, Alice Braga, Nathan Fillion, Taika Waititi, Jennifer Holland, David Dastmalchian, Joaquín Cosío, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Julio Ruiz, Steve Agee, Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn.
