We’ve got some bad news for any Marvel fans looking forward to seeing more of Gabriel Luna’s Robbie Reyes, as Deadline is reporting that Hulu has opted against moving forward with the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff series Ghost Rider.
The project was announced by Hulu earlier this year alongside another live-action Marvel series in Helstrom, and was said to be part of a new wave/phase of Marvel Television shows under an ‘Adventure into Fear’ banner. However, while things seem to be going to plan for the latter, creative differences between Hulu and the Ghost Rider creative team (led by The Punisher showrunner Steve Lightfoot for Marvel Television) are said to have reached an impasse, with the streaming service ultimately deciding not to move ahead.
The news comes hot on the heels of an unconfirmed rumour that Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios (the feature film department of Marvel) have their own plans for the Spirit of Vengeance on the big screen; it remains to be seen if that’s true, but this news about the TV show is certainly sure to fire up further speculation.
Are you disappointed that the Ghost Rider series isn’t moving ahead? Would you prefer to see the character – or another version of the character such as Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch – brought into the Marvel Studios fold?
