In a shocking turn of events, The Hollywood Reporter broke the story that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is developing a new Star Wars movie. The man behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now heading over to the other side of the Disney movie brand to help out Kathleen Kennedy’s Star Wars universe.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Feige met with Kennedy and studio co-chairmen Alan Horn and Alan Bergman late this summer about venturing into the long-standing franchise.
Kevin Feige is reportedly a Star Wars fan, so his interest in this doesn’t come as much of a shock to people around him. Many believe this is going to lead to a more prominent role for Feige, but there’s nothing to report there as of yet.
“We are excited about the projects Kathy and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox,” said Disney’s Alan Horn. “With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together.”
