Thanks to People, we’ve got a first look image from Togo, the upcoming Disney+ feature film which is based upon the true story of a sled dog who in 1925 was part of a team that helped prevent a diptheria epidemic in the remote town of Nome, Alaska by transporting an antitoxin over 1000km through the treacherous territory.
Togo sees The Lighthouse star Willem Dafoe portraying Leonhard Seppala, a veteran dogsled trainer and musher who chose Togo to lead his team, despite the dog’s advanced years and small size.
“It’s a beautiful story of an underdog (no pun intended) and how we can learn from adversity,” said Dafoe. “They will see beautiful nature, a world past, with touching relationships between the characters in a suspenseful adventure story.”
Togo is set to premiere on Disney+ on December 13th.
