Scarlett Johansson has teased that her Black Widow movie could turn into its own franchise.
Many Marvel fans have been waiting years for Black Widow to get her own solo movie and now it sounds like they might get a little more than that.
At Elle’s Women in Hollywood event (via a NYT reporter), Johansson apparently referred to Black Widow as a franchise and not just a one-off movie:
“ScarJo notes that the upcoming BLACK WIDOW is the first Marvel movie produced by one of its actors. She also referred to it as a ‘standalone franchise’ which is interesting if you expected it to be a one-off based on… you know.”

With Black Widow being set between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, do you think there’s room for multiple stories to be told? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter @flickeringmyth.
Black Widow is being directed by Cate Shortland (Lore) and sees Scarlett Johansson reprising her role as Natasha Romanoff alongside Florence Pugh (Fighting With My Family) as Yelena Belova, O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale) as Mason, David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Rachel Weisz (The Favourite) as Melina Vostokoff/Iron Maiden, and Ray Winstone (Sexy Beast) and Olivier Richters (The King’s Man) in as-yet-unrevealed roles. William Hurt (Thunderbolt Ross) and Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark) will also reportedly feature.
