Kevin Smith’s upcoming Masters of the Universe: Revelation anime isn’t the only He-Man project on the horizon for Netflix subscribers, as the streaming service has announced a new CG-animated series entitled He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
The official logline for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe reads:
“On the planet of Eternia, a young lost prince discovers the powers of Grayskull and transforms into He-Man, Master of the Universe! The classic battle between He-Man and evil Skeletor rages to new heights as both hero and villain forge new and mighty teams. A new generation of heroes fighting for the fate of us all. In the end, who will become Master of the Universe?”
The new series has been developed by Rob David (Masters of the Universe: Revelation) and will executive produce with Adam Bonnett (Descendants) and Christopher Keenan (Batman Beyond). Bryan Q. Miller (Arrow) serves as story editor, while Jeff Matsuda (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and Susan Corbin (Voltron) produce and House of Cool (Trollhunters) and CGCG (Star Wars: Resistance) will handle the animation.
It’s a good time to be a Masters of the Universe fan; the new comic book series He-Man and the Masters of the Multiverse is currently running through DC Comics, with further comics planned, while Mattel has plans to relaunch the toy line and Sony continues to develop a live-action feature film, with recent rumours suggesting it could be heading to Netflix.
