Game of Thrones star Iwan Rheon has signed on for a role in the upcoming third season of Starz’s American Gods, where he is set to play the “charming, good-natured leprechaun” Liam Doyle.
The official character description from Starz calls Doyle “a charming, good-natured leprechaun who once embraced his stereotypical Lucky Charms, St. Paddy’s Day image [who is] now on a path to a more dignified and honorable existence. That is until he finds himself swept back into our world of gods, luck, and magic.”
Rheon is one of several new additions to the cast of the Neil Gaiman adaptation for its third season, and joins the previously announced Lela Loren, Blythe Danner, Marilyn Manson, Danny Trejo, Dominique Jackson, Julia Sweeney, Herizen Guardiola, Ashley Reyes, Eric Johnson and Wale.

Season 3 of American Gods is set to follow “Shadow as he attempts to break away and assert himself as his own man, setting down roots in the idyllic snowy town of Lakeside, WI, where he’ll uncover a dark secret while exploring questions of his own divinity. Guided on this spiritual journey by the gods of his black ancestors, the Orishas, Shadow must decide exactly who he is: a god seeking veneration or a man in service of the ‘we’.”
American Gods season 3 will premiere on Starz at some point in 2020.
