Having originally been scheduled to arrive in 2018 as part of Warner Bros. initial slate of DC Extended Universe movies, The Flash finally looks to have escaped development hell, with the studio setting a July 1st 2022 release date for the Ezra Miller-headlined solo movie.
It and It Chapter Two helmer Andy Muschietti is on board to direct The Flash, having become the latest filmmaker attached to the project following the creative differences departures of Seth Grahame-Smith (The LEGO Batman Movie), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) and John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (Game Night).
The Flash becomes the second DC movie slated for release in 2022 after Aquaman 2, which will open in December that year. Here’s how the current DC slate is shaping up so far:
Birds of Prey – February 2020
Wonder Woman 1984 – June 2020
The Batman – June 2021
The Suicide Squad – August 2021
Black Adam – December 2021
The Flash – July 2022
Aquaman 2 – December 2022
