We’re over two years on from the theatrical release of Justice League, and still not a week goes by without the mythical Snyder Cut of the DC blockbuster grabbing headlines… only it seems it is ‘mythical’ no longer, as director Zack Snyder has taken to social media to confirm its existence, as well as a running time of 214 minutes – some five minutes longer than Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman!

As we all know, Snyder stepped down as director of Justice League following the tragic death of his daughter, with Warner Bros. then bringing in Avengers helmer Joss Whedon to oversee extensive reshoots as the studio looked to put its own stamp on the DC team-up. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out as planned and the film disappointed at the box office, leading to a major DC Films strategy rethink and behind-the-scenes shake-up.

As Warner Bros. continues to enjoy both critical and commercial success with the likes of Aquaman and Joker, it remains to be seen whether the studio has any interest in revisiting Justice League for the release of the Snyder Cut, and recent reports have suggested that there are “no plans” on the table. However, the interest is clearly there, and so fans can only continue to hope that it will see the light of day at some point…
