Originally shot back in the summer of 2017, The New Mutants was initially slated for release in April 2018, but encountered a number of delays after Fox demanded reshoots in order to make the superhero horror more frightening. These reshoots never happened, and the movie was delayed again following Disney’s Fox acquisition, with several rumours claiming that the Mouse House would dump the film direct to a streaming service such as Hulu or Disney+.
