Scott Derrickson to direct Bermuda Triangle thriller, Chris Evans circling lead role

March 5, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Doctor Strange and Sinister director Scott Derrickson is set to rewrite and direct the long-in-development Bermuda Triangle thriller, Bermuda, for Skydance.

According to Variety, Derrickson will direct and executive proudce Bermuda while rewriting the script alongside his writing partner C. Robert Cargill. Additionally, Derrickson won’t be the only Marvel Cinematic Universe alum joining the project as it is also been reported that Chris Evans is “circling the lead role.”

Plot details are currently being kept under wraps, save for the fact that the film will take place in the mysterious patch of the Caribbean where planes and ships have gone missing over the years.

Bermuda marks the director’s first film since walking away from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness over “creative differences”. However, there is a bit of irony with Derrickson stepping in to direct as Sam Raimi, who is now set to helm the Doctor Strange sequel, was at one point circling the director’s chair for Bermuda.
