After a report earlier this week brought word that showrunners Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson had signed deals with Netflix for a sixth season of Lucifer but lead star Tom Ellis was yet to do so, fans can now rest easy as TV Line has revealed that Ellis has finalized a deal for a potential sixth season of the series.
As for the rest of the Lucifer cast, TV Line notes that the majority of the actors, if not all of them, already have existing deals throughout a sixth season. The show has yet to be officially given the green light for another run, with the upcoming fifth season billed as the final one, although it seems the show’s popularity may keep it around for a bit longer.
The series is loosely based off the Neil Gaiman Vertigo comic book, itself spinning out of Gaiman’s Sandman, where Lucifer abruptly decides to quit Hell and run a nightclub in Los Angeles. The show sees Lucifer helping the LAPD as a consultant helping on a number of cases while running his club and dealing with various demons and family issues. The fourth season ended with Lucifer reluctantly returning to Hell to rule over its subjects.
The fifth season will see Dennis Haysbert (24) play Lucifer’s father God while Inbar Lavi returns as Eve.
Lucifer’s 16-episode fifth season is expected to arrive on later this year.
