Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus, the writers of Avengers: Infinity War, reveal that the Red Skull was a big reason that they decided to return to the franchise.
Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus’s first effort in the MCU was Captain America: The First Avenger, which saw the hero go up against arch-nemesis Red Skull.
The two writers returned to the franchise many times over the years but apparently the inclusion of Red Skull in Avengers: Infinity War was a big reason why they signed up for the film.
Speaking on Twitter during a watch party for the movie with ComicBook.com, Markus said: “Bringing him back was the whole reason I agreed to do this movie. Well, that and all the other reasons. But to get a chance to bring back the bad guy from our first Marvel movie and use him in the wrap-up was too satisfying not to do.”
He also revealed that Red Skull was always going to be a part of the movie.
