Sebastian Stan updates on Marvel’s Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, has “two or three” weeks of filming remaining

May 2, 2020 by Gary Collinson

While Marvel has made a number of release date changes to its Phase Four movie slate due to the ongoing global health crisis, we’re yet to hear of any delays to the studio’s various live-action Disney+ projects, which are due to launch this August with the premiere of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Production on the series – which teams Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson with Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes – was shut down back in March and remains on hiatus, and now Stan has revealed that there’s still “at least two or three” weeks of shooting to go.

“We’re not finished; we still have some stuff to do,” Stan told The Hollywood Reporter. “What I loved about it was that, tonally, it was very much in the same world that Captain America: The Winter Soldier was, which was one of my favorite experiences that I’ve ever had, period. So, in a sense, it was grounded and very much in the world as we know it. But, it’s also really jam-packed with a lot of massive, massive action scenes mixed with deep focus on character.”

“That’s what’s really exciting about this,” he continued. “We’re getting to keep it in the world of the movies, so it’s recognizable that way, but at the same time, these characters are getting so much more mileage for all of us to explore them. We can put them in situations that we’ve never been able to put them in before because you now have six hours as opposed to two. It’s always a discovery.”

Hopefully it won’t be too much longer before Stan and company can get back in front of the cameras to complete the series, although with several weeks of filming still to go, that August premiere date sounds highly optimistic.

Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is set to premiere on Disney+ in August and features a cast that includes MCU veterans Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Emily VanCamp (Sharon Carter), Daniel Bruhl (Zemo) and new additions Wyatt Russell (Overlord), Carl Lumbly (Doctor Sleep), Adepero Oduye (The Big Short), Desmond Chiam (Now Apocalypse), Miki Ishikawa (The Terror: Infamy) and Noah Mills (The Brave).
