With the global health crisis wreaking havoc with television schedules for the upcoming season, The CW has acquired the rebroadcast rights to a number of series in order to fill out its slate until the launch of the delayed 2020 – 2021 season in January 2021.
Along with CBS All Access’ anthology thriller Tell Me a Story, The CW has picked up the network rights to the James Wan produced live-action DC Universe series Swamp Thing. The CW will air all ten episodes of the show, which was unceremoniously cancelled by DC Universe just days after its premiere despite proving a hit with fans and critics.
The CW is already home to a host of DC shows, including the upcoming DC Universe series Stargirl, which it will broadcast the day after its debut on the Warner-owned streaming service beginning May 19th, and the new Supergirl spinoff Superman & Lois, which will officially get underway as part of The CW’s January line-up.

Whether there’s any hope for a second season of Swamp Thing on The CW, we shall have to wait and see – although with J.J. Abrams developing a Justice League Dark show for HBO Max, it would seem unlikely. But who knows – perhaps a guest appearance in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow could deliver the Constantine team-up that the producers hoped to include in Crisis on Infinite Earths?
Here’s how The CW’s 2020/21 schedule shapes up for January 2021, complete with Superman & Lois and the Walker, Texas Ranger reboot Walker (the network’s two other new shows, Kung Fu and The Republic of Sarah, are being held for midseason, while the Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene remains on the bubble and may or may not receive a season two renewal):
