The 90s nostalgia is officially here as Variety is reporting that the 1999’s teen movie, She’s All That, is getting a remake with a new twist.
The film will take a gender-swap twist and will now be titled He’s All That. The project has been in the works for years, says Variety, and only recently gained traction in Hollywood again. The filmmaker behind teen hits like Freaky Friday and Mean Girls, Mark Waters, will direct the film.
Joining this film is TikTok star Addison Rae Easterling. Addison Rae is known for her dancing videos and has over 60 million subscribers on the short-form video service. He’s All That will mark her feature film debut.
This new version will see a 21st-century update as we follow an influencer who attempts to turn a nerdy boy into prom king. The reimagined plot will switch from a male’s perspective and now follow the teenage girl, with Addison Rae taking on a role inspired by Freddie Prinze Jr.’s Zackery Siler.
“This reboot is a welcomed step towards a new generation of Miramax storytelling, part of our greater strategy to leverage our existing library with fresh, re-imagined content in both film and TV,” said Miramax CEO Bill Block.
