Marvel has found its She-Hulk, with Deadline reporting that Orphan Black and Perry Mason star Tatiana Maslany has secured the title role in the upcoming Disney+ TV series.
She-Hulk is the alter-ego of Jennifer Walters, an attorney who is also the cousin of Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo). In the comic books, Jennifer gains his powers after Bruce is forced to give her an emergency blood transfusion to save her life, although she retains her intelligence and personality, much like the Smart Hulk of Avengers: Endgame.
Meanwhile, it has also been revealed that Kat Coiro, the director of Marry Me, is set to direct the pilot as well as other episodes in series, which has Rick and Morty writer Jessica Gao serving as showrunner.
Disney+ is a huge opportunity for Marvel to bring smaller stories to our screens and She-Hulk is just one of several shows to be confirmed along with the likes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, Hawkeye, Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel.
She-Hulk is slated to shoot in Atlanta, Georgia, and was originally targeting a 2021 release on Disney+, although it’s not clear at this point whether that could be pushed back as a result of Marvel shuffling its slate due to the pandemic.
