Ben Wheatley has secretly shot a low-budget pandemic horror

October 3, 2020 by Gary Collinson

With his Daphne du Maurier adaptation set to hit Netflix later this month, director Ben Wheatley has revealed that Rebecca isn’t the only movie he has in the can, as he’s also secretly shot a micro-budget pandemic horror during the recent lockdown.

“I’ve said it a lot, but I think I’ve always seen it as there being genres of subject but also genres of budget, and those genres of budget are micro-budget, low-budget, mid-budget, and high-budget, which make for totally different filmmaking experiences,” the filmmaker told Little White Lies, before revealing that he spent some fifteen days during August shooting a horror movie “just to keep my head together with lockdown happening.”

Further etails on the new film are being kept under wraps for the time being, as the filmmaker gears up for the release of Rebecca on October 21st. His next project will be his biggest to date, as he links up with Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander to bring Lara Croft back to the big screen with a sequel to the 2018 Tomb Raider reboot.
