Deadline is reporting that young actress Xochitl Gomez (The Baby-Sitters Club) has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ superhero sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
While details on Gomez’s character are being kept under wraps, it’s been speculated that she could be set to portray America Chavez, a.k.a. Miss America.
The fan-favourite comic book character and member of the Young Avengers has previously been rumoured to appear in the movie, and given her connection to the Multiverse, the Doctor Strange sequel certainly seems an appropriate place for her to make her big screen debut.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be directed by Sam Raimi, and will begin production in the coming weeks once Benedict Cumberbatch completes work as the Sorcerer Supreme on Spider-Man 3, which has just commenced principal photography.
Along with Cumberbatch and Gomez, Multiverse of Madness is set to see the return of Benedict Wong (Wong) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Mordo), while Elizabeth Olsen also features as Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a the Scarlet Witch.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is currently set for release on March 25th 2022.
