Earlier this week, it was reported that Warner Bros. have shuffled their theatrical release schedule for several projects including Shazam! Fury of the Gods as a result of the ongoing global health crisis. However, despite the sequel’s significant delay to 2023, this apparently won’t affect the planned production schedule.
Taking to Twitter, Shazam! director David F. Sandberg revealed that the release date delay won’t affect production on the film – which is set to begin in early 2021 – so there’s no need to worry about any inconsistencies between the first and second films in relation to the age of the child actors.
Seriously though, it doesn’t mean we have to change the shooting schedule so no need to freak out about the age of the kids. You can freak out about your own age though. I’ll be 42 in three years. How about that!

Shazam! Fury of the Gods will reunite star Zachary Levi with director David F. Sandberg and screenwriter Henry Gayden. Both Asher Angel (Billy Batson), Jack Dylan Grazer (Freddy Freeman), and the rest of the Shazam Family are expected to return for the sequel. The sequel is now currently scheduled to release on June 2nd, 2023.
While plot details are currently being kept under wraps, we do know that fans will have to wait slightly longer for the inevitable showdown between Zachary Levi’s Shazam! and Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, as according to Levi, the two characters won’t be meeting on-screen until Shazam! 3 as The Rock is focusing on his own solo Black Adam movie first – which has currently become undated in the theatrical release schedule for Warner Bros.
