Dan Trachtenberg to direct new Predator film for 20th Century Studios

November 20, 2020 by EJ Moreno

Another Predator film is on its way, and it’s coming from 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg.

Deadline reports that Trachtenberg is set to direct the new film from a script by Patrick Aison, producer and writer for many hit projects including the series Kingdom, Jack Ryan, and Treadstone. John Davis is returning as a producer, a role he has served on all of the entries in the series up to this point.

Little is known about the film’s plot, with details being kept under wraps, although it is not believed to be connected to 2018’s The Predator from director Shane Black, who helmed the most recent instalment after playing one of the soldiers back in the original 1987 film.

Dan Trachtenberg directed the 2016 thriller 10 Cloverfield Lane, which expanded the Cloverfield universe to epic proportions. Trachtenberg has helmed episodes of hit TV series like Black Mirror and The Boys and also attached to a film adaptation of Uncharted but left the project back in August 2019.

This will mark the seventh film in the Predator franchise, starting back in 1987 and including two crossovers with the Alien franchise. It is the first under Disney’s ownership of the IP following the 20th century Fox takeover, and is also the second Fox-related project to be announced today after Deadpool 3.
