The CW just can’t seem to get enough of its DC superheroes, as just days after word of the potential Black Lightning spinoff Painkiller comes the news that the network is developing a Wonder Girl series revolving around the new character Yara Flor, who is set to debut in DC Comics this January in Future State: Wonder Woman.
Written by Queen of the South executive producer/co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez, the drama series “centers on Yara Flor, a Latina Dreamer who was born of an Amazonian Warrior and a Brazilian River God, learns that she is Wonder Girl. With her newfound power must fight the evil forces that would seek to destroy the world.”
Wonder Girl would become the first DC TV series to be led by a Latina superhero, and would join The CW and Berlanti Productions’ ever-expanding slate of DC series alongside The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Batwoman, Black Lightning and Superman and Lois.
