Kate Winslet, who is starring in Avatar 2 and 3, says she lost track of how many films were being made at once by James Cameron.
Kate Winslet and James Cameron have a working relationship going all the way back to Titanic in 1997. The two are working together once more on Avatar 2 and 3 and while she loved the experience, it wasn’t easy to keep track of which film was being made due to the sequels being shot at once and out of order.
Speaking to the WTF Podcast, Winslet said: “I lost track of how many he [Cameron] is making at once. I did two at once, in tandem with him. All my work was in 2018… It’s an extraordinary experience. You go into this huge aircraft hanger and anything is possible. You want to fly today? You want to do some spear fighting underwater? Sure, we’ll do it. It was wonderful for me to be a part of such a well-oiled machine, with such great artists and technicians.”

Hopefully, by the time the films come out, each sequel has its own distinct feel while still feeling like part of the same series. It’s certainly an uncommon way to make several blockbuster sequels but if anyone can pull it off, it’s James Cameron.
Avatar 2 sees Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Matt Gerald, Dileep Rao, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi and Sigourney Weaver all reprising their roles from the 2009 blockbuster, while new additions to the cast include Kate Winslet, Oona Chaplin, Cliff Curtis, Britain Dalton, Filip Geljo, Jamie Flatters, Bailey Bass, Trinity Bliss, Jack Champion, Duane Evans Jr., Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, Keston John and CJ Jones.
Avatar 2 is set for release in December 2022, followed by Avatar 3 in 2024, Avatar 4 in 2026 and Avatar 5 in 2028.
