While Disney’s Investor Day presentation brought confirmation that both Patty Jenkins and Taika Waititi are working on Star Wars feature films, those aren’t the only two movies in the pipeline as we also have the previously announced project from Marvel Studios mastermind Kevin Feige.
Despite being inundated with Marvel projects across Phase Four and beyond, Feige is looking to press ahead with his Star Wars plans, with Deadline reporting that the producer has enlisted Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness screenwriter and Loki executive producer Michael Waldron to script the film.
Waldron, who received an Emmy for his work on Rick and Morty and also created Starz’s upcoming wrestling drama Heels, recently signed an overall deal with Disney, which is expected to lead to several high profile projects across both Marvel and Lucasfilm – including a reported return for a second season of Loki.
As one would expect, details on Feige’s Star Wars plans are being kept tightly under wraps, and it’s unclear when Disney and Lucasfilm are targeting it for release. Next up for Star Wars on the big screen is Patty Jenkins’ Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, which is set for release in December 2023, and so it’s likely to be a good few years away yet.
