Deadline is reporting that Hereditary and Midsommar director Ari Aster is set to team with Oscar-winner Joaquin Phoenix for his next film Disappointment Blvd., which has been picked up by A24, the studio behind Aster’s first two movies.
Plot details for Disappointment Blvd. are being kept under wraps, but Deadline describes the film as “an intimate, decades-spanning portrait of one of the most successful entrepreneurs of all time.”
In addition to directing, Aster has written the script for Disappointment Blvd. and will also produce with Lars Knudsen.
Disappointment Blvd. marks Phoenix’s first project since his Academy Award-winning turn as the Clown Prince of Crime in Warner Bros. and DC Films’ Joker. He is also attached to play Napoleon Bonaparte for his Gladiator director Ridley Scott in Kitbag, although that is expected to shoot after his collaboration with Aster.
