With The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, The Book of Boba Fett, Andor, Rangers of the New Republic, Lando, The Acolyte, Ewan McGregor in heavy beard-grooming prep for Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Patty Jenkins directed Rogue Squadron movie, and solo-projects from both Kevin Feige and Taika Waititi, you could be forgiven for forgetting that somewhere among this crawl there should be Rian Johnson’s Star Wars trilogy. Well fear not Padawan, because it appears that The Last Jedi director still plans to tell his own three film story.
USA Today’s Sariah Wilson recently posted a tweet following her interview with the Brick and Knives Out director, reassuring fans before she was bombarded from all across the galaxy with requests for an update, that “Yes, Rian’s SW trilogy is still on. No dates or timelines because he has other projects going on, but it is happening.”
I'm just going to post this now because I can see that I'm going to get a lot of requests –

THAT IS ALL I KNOW ABOUT IT. 😁😁😁

So there you have it, the director behind the most divisive episode of the Skywalker saga is still planning on a trio of films “that steps beyond the legacy characters” and moves the franchise forward.
It might be lighting the blue touch paper, but what do you think of these developments? Does this give you a new hope for the future of Star Wars, or were you happy with the way Disney had somewhat course-corrected the appeal of the galaxy following the reception of the last two movies?
