Snowpiercer casts Archie Panjabi for season 3

February 18, 2021 by Ricky Church

Just a few weeks after TNT gave Snowpiercer an early third season renewal, the sci-fi series has made its first casting addition for the next season as Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife) will star.

Panjabi will portray a character named Asha, whose role is currently being kept under wraps. The second season premiered at the end of January. Snowpiercer is based on the 2013 film from Parasite director Bong Joon-ho as well as the French graphic novel series Le Transperceneige. The series takes place in a post-apocalypse future after the planet has been devastated and what is left of humanity is placed on a large train that never stops travelling around the world. It ultimately leads to class warfare and revolution as people further up the train are treated better than those toward the back.

At the end of season one, the survivors of the revolution are trying to pick up the pieces and maintain a fragile peace amongst the now merged classes with Layton emerging as the train’s leader. Discovering Mr. Wilford is alive and headed their way on a rival train, Melanie risks going outside to prevent him from invading Snowpiercer. While she’s out there, it’s revealed that Alexandra, Melanie’s daughter, who she thought had died, is alive and has become Wilford’s dedicated protegee. In season two, an entirely new power struggle emerges, causing a dangerous rift as people are divided between their loyalty to Layton and to Mr. Wilford, who has a new train, new technology and a game plan that keeps everyone guessing. While Layton battles Wilford for the soul of Snowpiercer, Melanie leads the charge on a shocking new discovery that could change the fate of humanity.

Snowpiercer season two premiered on January 25th and features a cast that includes Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Sean Bean, Rowan Blanchard, Iddo Goldberg, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Katie McGuinness, Lena Hall, Annalise Basso, Roberto Urbina, Sam Otto, Sheila Vand and Steven Ogg.
