Back in August of last year it was announced that Paramount Pictures and Blumhouse Productions will be relaunching the Paranormal Activity franchise, and now comes word that filmmaker Will Eubank (The Signal, Underwater) has come on board to direct the next instalment in the hit horror series.
Eubank will develop the new film – described as “an unexpected retooling” – with franchise veteran Christopher Landon, who is set to write the script after penning four of the previous instalments. Blumhouse’s Jason Blum returns as producer alongside franchise and original Paranormal Activity writer-director creator Oren Peli.
Plot details on the as-yet-untitled film are being kept under wraps, and there has been no word whether it will continue any plot threads from the previous movies or take things in an entirely new direction. It is known however that it retain the same found footage format as its predecessors.
