As HBO continues to work on the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, Deadline has revealed that the cable network is in the process of developing more potential spin-offs of the hit fantasy series. The spin-offs include series titled 9 Voyages, 10,000 Ships and Flea Bottom, all based upon the vast lore series creator George R.R. Martin was written within the history of Westeros.
Of the three projects, 9 Voyages is reportedly the closest to being greenlit with Rome and Gotham‘s showrunner Bruno Heller steering development. 9 Voyages, which could also be titled Sea Snake, would follow the “great voyages at sea made by Corlys Velaryon aboard the Sea Snake ship. Velaryon journeyed to places including Pentos, Dragonstone and around the bottom of Westeros as well as to Lys, Tyrosh and Myr. He reached the fabled lands of Yi Ti and Leng, whose wealth doubled that of the House Velaryon, and him and the Ice Wolf headed north searching for passage around the top of Westeros, only to find frozen seas and icebergs as big as mountains.”
10,000 Ships would take place 1,000 years before the events of Game of Thrones. If developed, it will feature the “warrior queen Princess Nymeria and the surviving members of the Rhoynars, who travelled from Essos to Dorne following their defeat by the Valyrian Freehold in the Second Spice War.”
The third idea that is in discussion for a spin-off is Flea Bottom, a show that would focus on the district of Flea Bottom, the poorest slum of King’s Landing. Many of the city’s cutthroats, brothels and prostitutes reside there and was featured prominently in the earliest seasons of Game of Thrones.
These potential projects aren’t the only Game of Thrones spin-offs being considered for development. In addition to House of the Dragon, HBO is working on The Tales of Dunk & Egg, another prequel focusing on a knight and young prince and based on Martin’s novellas, as well as an animated Game of Thrones project for HBO Max.
