Although director James Gunn is currently working on DC’s The Suicide Squad and John Cena’s Peacemaker spinoff series, it sounds like the long wait for filming to start on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 is coming to a close.
Taking to Twitter, Gunn answered a fan question who asked when production is set to start on the third instalment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe film franchise, which he replied stating it would be starting sometime later this year.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 was originally scheduled to release back in 2020, however, following Gunn’s firing by Disney – which allowed him to write and direct The Suicide Squad – and the ongoing global health crisis, the third instalment was delayed and has now received a 2023 release date.
While plot details for Vol.3 are being kept under wraps, it is safe to assume that all of the Guardians will be returning including Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Sean Gunn as Kraglin and Rocket Raccoon, and Karen Gillan as Nebula.

It has also been confirmed that Pratt, Klementieff, Bautista, Gillan and Sean Gunn will be reprising their respective roles in the fourth instalment of the Thor franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder, which is scheduled for a May 6th 2022 release.
