Kevin Bacon will join Peter Dinklage, Jacob Tremblay, and Taylour Paige in Legendary’s reboot of The Toxic Avenger. The Hollywood Reporter broke the story today that Bacon has signed on to play the film’s main villain, soon facing off with Peter Dinklage’s Toxie.
Macon Blair wrote and will helm the remake of the 1984 Troma Entertainment cult classic. Like the original, this new The Toxic Avenger will follow a “struggling everyman who, when pushed into a vat of toxic waste, is transformed into a mutant freak who must go from shunned outcast to underdog hero as he races to save his son, his friends, and his community from the forces of corruption and greed.”
THR notes that Kevin Bacon will play “a slick (and likely over the top) villain.”
Bacon is known for some great villainous roles like the titular character in Hollow Man and the lead baddie in X-Men: First Class. He was last seen in 2020’s Blumhouse movie You Should Have Left. The actor is also in City on a Hill on Showtime, which recently announced its third season.
