Superhero movies are a staple of today’s cinema, but like every popular form of media, there has been a dark side to comic book-based movies. The 1990s, in particular, were notorious for almost destroying the genre. Batman & Robin is the most infamous, but others like Steel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, and Judge Dredd all contributed to the failure.
