Deadline is reporting that Emily Blunt is set to reunite with her Jungle Cruise co-star Dwayne Johnson for an action adventure film based around the real-life figure Kate Warne, the first female detective in the Pinkerton Detective Agency.
Aged just 23, Warne became the first woman detective hired by Allan Pinkerton and his Pinkerton Detective Agency in 1856. She was involved in uncovering the Baltimore Plot to assassinate President Abraham Lincoln and rose to become Pinkerton’s Female Superintendent of Detectives.
Blunt will star in the lead role in the as-yet-untitled film, as well as producing alongside Johnson and his Seven Bucks partners Hiram Garcia and Dany Garcia. The script has been penned by Gustin Nash (Youth in Revolt), while Amazon has acquired the distribution rights in what Deadline described as a highly competitive auction.
Blunt and Johnson are coming off Disney’s Jungle Cruise, which opened at the end of July and has so far earned $154 million at the box office along with a further $30 million plus from Disney+ Premier Access.
