Dutch filmmaker Paul Verhoeven steamed up Cannes this year with his latest film Benedetta, an erotic religious drama based upon the 1986 book Immodest Acts: The Life of a Lesbian Nun in Renaissance Italy, and now comes word that IFC Films has set a U.S. release date of December 3rd.
The official synopsis for Benedetta reads:
Set in the late 17th century and inspired by true events, Benedetta follows a young woman who joins a convent in Pescia, Tuscany as a plague ravages the land that surrounds it. Capable of performing miracles from an early age, Benedetta’s impact on life in the community is immediate and momentous.
