For months now, Tom Holland has teased that Spider-Man: No Way Home could be the end of the current series of Spider-Man films and “felt like the end of a franchise”. Many fans felt the new film may mark the end of his run, as Marvel superheroes rarely get past three solo films.
However, Spidey is breaking that trend and joining Thor in the four-film club – plus a further two additional outings! Today, producer Amy Pascal has confirmed that Tom Holland will be back for more web-slinging in a second Spider-Man trilogy with Marvel Studios.
“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie,” Pascal revealed. “We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go on to the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.”
After this multiverse battle in Spider-Man: No Way Home, how will the state of Spider-Man’s world look? Will he still feel the effects of everything that happened in the upcoming film and Doctor Strange’s own adventure in the Multiverse of Madness, or will things be back to normal by then? No matter what, though, fans should be delighted that the beloved Tom Holland is gearing up for more rounds in the Spidey suit.
With Sony and Marvel Studios getting even closer than ever, could we also see characters such as Tom Hardy’s Venom and Jared Leto’s Morbius enter the fold as well? Only time will tell, but it’s an exciting time to be a fan of the web-slinger.
For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.
