PBS has released a trailer for the upcoming comedy adventure Around the World in 80 Days. Based on the classic novel by Jules Verne, the series stars David Tennant (Good Omens), Ibrahim Koma (Mother Is Wrong) and Leonie Benesch (The Crown). Watch the trailer below…
Tennant stars as the lead character Phileas Fogg, a “preposterously upper middle class, over-educated Englishman with a childlike sense of wonder because he’s never traveled, and he’s never left London or his club.”
Koma is playing Passepartout, “an irrepressible chancer who falls into the role of Fogg’s ‘valet’, little knowing it will change his life forever” while Benesch is Abigail Fix, “the young journalist determined to make her mark in a man’s world and emerge from the long shadow of her British establishment father.”
Also starring in the series are Jason Watkins (The Crown) as Bernard Fortescue, a newspaper editor, and Peter Sullivan (Poldark) as Nyle Bellamy, an old antagonist of Fogg’s.
Around the World in 80 Days was created by Ashley Pharoah, who also wrote the series.
Following an outrageous bet, Fogg and his valet, Passepartout, take on the legendary journey of circumnavigating the globe in just 80 days, swiftly joined by aspiring journalist Abigail Fix, who seizes the chance to report on this extraordinary story.
Around the World in 80 Days will premiere on January 2nd, 2022.
