Taking to her personal Twitter account, longtime Tails voice actor Colleen O’Shaughnessey has confirmed that she will once again reprise the character for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie.
Taking my old pal Tails for another adventure. Thrilled to announce I’m the voice of Miles “Tails” Prower in #SonicMovie2! Can’t wait for y'all to see him on the big screen.

Colleen O’Shaughnessey initially returned to the role for the first Sonic the Hedgehog film as Tails appeared during the mid-credits scene, making her the only voice actor to reprise her role in live-action form. Besides Tails, O’Shaughnessey has provided her role for Charmy Bee in the Sonic video game series as well as Sora Takenouchi in the Digimon Adventure series, Jazz Fenton from Danny Phantom, and Ino Yamanaka from the Naruto series.
“After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is ready for more freedom, and Tom and Maddie agree to leave him home while they go on vacation. But, no sooner are they gone, when Dr. Robotnik comes back, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to both build and destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.”
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is once again being directed by Jeff Fowler and sees Ben Schwartz returning to voice Sonic alongside Jim Carrey (Dr. Robotnik), James Marsden (Tom Wachowski), Tika Sumpter (Maddie Wachowski), Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles, and Lee Majdoub as Agent Stone.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is set for release on April 8th 2022.
