Having brought Jason Voorhees to video games with Friday the 13th: The Game, Gun Interactive is now turning its attention to another iconic horror series with the announcement of a brand new asymmetrical multiplayer title based upon Tobe Hooper’s 1974 classic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Check out the teaser trailer here…
“It’s no secret that the original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is probably my favorite horror film ever created,” Ronnie Hobbs, creative director at Gun Interactive, tells Bloody Disgusting. “Having the chance to really dive into the world of this IP with the team from Gun and working with Sumo to bring this vision to life has been almost surreal. I can’t wait for everyone to see more of what we’re doing.”
“We’re incredibly excited to finally reveal what we’ve been working on here at Sumo Nottingham. To be the first to truly bring the world of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to life was an opportunity that could not be passed,” adds Darren Campion, executive producer at Sumo Nottingham, which is teaming with Gun Interactive on the game. “The cult classic has been terrifying and spellbinding people for over 40 years and we’re thrilled with how the game is developing, we cannot wait for fans old and new to become part of this truly authentic experience.”
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will adopt a similar approach to Friday the 13th, although players won’t be restricted to a single killer and will instead be able to choose from the likes of Leatherface, The Cook and The Hitchhiker as well as other new characters. As yet, there’s no word on a release date, but the game will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
