Horror Tycoon: Playtest is now available to play for free on Steam

May 20, 2022 by Andrew Newton

Fans of horror, tower defence and tycoon games are in for a treat as Gameparic has released Horror Tycoon: Playtest on Steam and is available to play for free.  This hybrid of tycoon and tower defence games has players building the ultimate horror attraction where they will build, scare, thrill and sometimes even kill the guests.

Horror Tycoon: Playtest features the entire first level of the full game for players to terrify and thrill through. There’s a range of items available to help build the ultimate horror attraction, including more than 50 building pieces, over 30 decorations, 10 super scary traps and 5 FX.  As Horror Tycoon: Playtest is currently in pre-alpha certain items or aspects of the gameplay may change as the developers make improvements.

When the full game is released players will be able to design and build nightmarish attractions with the aim of scaring the guests enough that they leave before reaching the exit.  Succeed in doing that and gain cash and reputation, fail and you risk losing it all.  As the game proceeds through the levels the guests will become more resilient to the terror inducing traps and fx etc. so it will be up to players to create more fiendish trap doors, fake walls, doorways and more.  It may even be necessary to make the odd guest or two vanish for good, but be sure to hire lawyers and security guards to prevent investigators stopping the hauntingly good fun.

Visit the Horror Tycoon Steam page now and try the Playtest for yourself, if you dare.
