During a Sony Presentation of Bullet Train at the CineEurope conference in Barcelona, Aaron Taylor-Johnson took some time out from promoting David Leitch’s action-blockbuster to speak about his role in Spider-Man spin-off Kraven the Hunter.
Taylor-Johnson spoke about his third stint in a superhero property following Kick-Ass and Avengers: Age of Ulton, calling Kraven the Hunter “one of Marvel’s most iconic, notorious anti-heroes — Spider Man’s number one rival.” Adding that he was excited that his character was “not an alien, or a wizard. He’s just a hunter, a human with conviction. An animal lover and a protector of the natural world. He’s a very, very cool character.” He also tried to put a different spin on the film by adding that unlike other Marvel movies, “this one is shot entirely on location.”
Joining Johnson as Sergei Kravinoff will be Ariana DeBose as Calypso, Fred Hechinger as Chameleon, and Russell Crowe, Alessandro Nivola, Levi Miller, and Christopher Abbott in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
Kraven the Hunter is being directed by J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year) from a script by Art Marcum (Iron Man), Richard Wenk (Jack Reacher: Never Go Back) and Matt Holloway (Uncharted), and takes place within Sony’s shared Marvel universe alongside Venom and Morbius.
