Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney has signed on to whistleblower Reality Winner in a drama based upon the true story of the military contractor who was accused of leaking an intelligence report into Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election.
The as-yet-untitled film will mark the feature directorial debut of Tina Satter and is based upon her critically acclaimed Broadway play Is This A Room. It will tell the story of Winner, who was arrested on suspicion of leaking an NSA report into Russia electoral interference to the news website The Intercept and was ultimately sentenced to five years and three months in federal prison – the longest ever sentence handed out for the unauthorised release of government information. She was released earlier this month.
Satter is set to direct from a script she has written with James Paul Dallas, while Sweeney is joined in the cast by Josh Hamilton (The Walking Dead) and Marchánt Davis (The Day Shall Come).
