Adam Driver may stay in the Disney family after years of Star Wars as it is rumored that the actor could be joining one of Marvel’s First Family.
The Ankler’s Jeff Sneider spoke on The Hot Mic Podcast, where he mentioned that Adam Driver had a meeting with Marvel Studios this summer over the role of Reed Richards in Fantastic Four.
It’s also been noted that Driver has been linked to the Doctor Doom role in the reboot, although that comes from a source less reliable than Sneider (for reference, The Ankler’s Jeff Sneider is the scooper who broke the news of Harrison Ford being cast as General Thunderbolt Ross in Captain America: New World Order and Thunderbolts.
The Driver rumor comes after weeks of Fantastic Four talks. Other names in contention for Reed Richards are said to include Penn Badgley (You) and Tom Ellis (Lucifer). John Krasinski previously played a version of Mister Fantastic for a cameo in this year’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, marking the character’s Marvel Cinematic Universe debut.
Adam Driver previously teamed with Disney for his role as Kylo Ren in the latest Star Wars trilogy, and is a two-time Academy Award nominee: Best Supporting Actor for Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman and Best Actor for Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story.
Matt Shakman of WandaVision fame is set to helm Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four, which was recently delayed to February 2025.
