The cast of the Joker sequel grows by the day, and another actor has joined the twisted musical film.
Harry Lawtey (Industry) has signed on to star in Joker: Folie À Deux, alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga.
Todd Phillips returns as director and looks to take the project in a new direction. Deadline notes the film will reportedly be set within Arkham and feature musical elements. Joker 2’s title translates in English to “madness shared by two,” so expected the twisted love story between Fleck and Quinn as the obvious centerpiece.
Harry Lawtey joins the cast fresh off his turn in HBO’s Industry. We will see the actor next in Scoot Cooper’s The Pale Blue Eye, starring alongside Christian Bale. The film is set for a release in limited theaters on December 23rd before its streaming debut on January 6th.
Lawtey joins Joaquin Phoenix, who reprises his Oscar-winning role as Arthur Fleck/Joker, along with Zazie Beetz’s Sophie, while other new additions to the cast for the sequel include Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born) as Harley Quinn and Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin), Catherine Keener (The Adam Project), and Jacob Lofland (Mud) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
Joker: Folie À Deux will begin production in December and is slated to release on October 4th, 2024.
