Robert Eggers is gearing up for his Nosferatu project, and the casting is growing to include some of the best in young Hollywood.
Deadline reports that Nicholas Hoult is now entering negotiations to join the film, where he’ll play a still-undisclosed role. Hoult will join Bill Skarsgard, who’s set to play the titular character, and Lily-Rose Depp, who is also in talks to star.
Deadline describes the new reimagining as “a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman (Depp) in 19th century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire (Skarsgard) who stalks her, bringing untold horror with him.”
Nosferatu is described as a passion project of Eggers, something we almost saw takes shape in 2019 with Anya Taylor-Joy and Harry Styles. When Studio 8 put the production on hold due to budget and schedules, the director moved on to The Northman with Focus Features. Following the release of The Northman, the studio and filmmaker began planning the next project, and that’s when Nosferatu was put back onto the table.
Hoult is fresh off an Emmy nomination and will soon star in Renfield playing Dracula’s henchman alongside Nicolas Cage. He’ll be more than prepared to fight vampires after dealing with Cage as Dracula.
