The Fast and Furious movies know how to bring someone back from the grave, and it seems they are doing it once again as The Direct has broke the story about Gal Gadot’s return for Fast X, the tenth installment in the long-running franchise.
Gadot’s last appearance as Gisele Yashar was in Fast & Furious 6 in 2013. In the film, Gisele seemingly sacrifices herself to save Han by throwing herself off a plane. It was a relatively dramatic and shocking scene, which sent Han down a path that would also lead to his supposed death.
Sung Kang’s Han would return in 2021’s F9 and introduce a new storyline by facing off with Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw. If it sounds like a soap opera, that’s what the Fast & Furious movies have become.
For Gal Gadot, the last few weeks have been a journey. The hierarchy of DC shifted when James Gunn and Peter Safran took over, and a lot of things have changed for DC Studios.
One of the most significant changes is Patty Jenkins losing the chance to make a third Wonder Woman film, while Gadot and Henry Cavill’s cameos reportedly cut from the upcoming Flash film. Gadot will likely need this Fast X win to make a solid comeback, as Cavill has done with his Warhammer project.
The production of Fast X has been a rocky road as well. With a mid-production director shake-up, the usual Vin Diesel-related drama, and the budget reportedly ballooning to insane heights, it feels like the film needs to pull out all the stops. With a large cast (all reportedly getting paid insanely well), the first part in the epic two-part finale for the Fast and the Furious saga will be a truly star-studded event.
