With the original series having shuffled out of existence earlier this year, AMC are getting to work on their spin-off shows involving the surviving members of The Walking Dead, one of which is the eagerly anticipated reunion of TWD poster-boy Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his sword-wielding spouse Michonne (Danai Gurira), which has just started production.
AMC marked the occasion by tweeting out two behind-the-scenes photographs from the set, which you can check out below.

Originally intended as a trilogy of Rick Grimes movies, before pandemic delays and rewrites saw it evolve into a six-episode mini-series, the official synopsis for Rick and Michonne reads “This series presents an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead … And ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before?”
AMC currently has the Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohen) spin-off The Walking Dead: Dead City and Norman Reedus-led solo-outing The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon in production. They are both set to debut sometime in 2023, while Rick and Michonne is aiming for a 2024 release date.
