It looks like Starsky & Hutch could soon be back on the beat, albeit in gender-swapped form, as Fox is developing a reboot of the classic 1970s cop show following female detectives Sasha Starsky and Nicole Hutchinson.
As per Deadline, the one-hour drama is being developed by Sam Sklaver (Prodigal Son) and Elizabeth Peterson (The Resident), the potential series will see the new Starsky and Hutch “solving crimes in the offbeat town of Desert City while staying true to their friendship, their awesomeness, and somehow also trying to unravel the mystery behind who sent their fathers to prison 15 years ago for a crime they didn’t commit.”
The original Starsky & Hutch was created by William Blinn and saw Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul as David Michael Starsky and Kenneth Richard ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson, two California police detectives cruising the streets of the fictional Bay City in their iconic Ford Gran Torino.
This isn’t the first attempt to bring back Starsky & Hutch; Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson starred in a 2004 buddy cop action comedy movie, while James Gunn was previously attached to a TV ‘requel’ with Amazon back in 2017 although nothing ultimately materialised.
