Normal People and Where the Crawdads Sing actress Daisy Edgar-Jones has become the first addition to the cast of Twisters, the upcoming follow-up to the 1996 Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt disaster film Twister.
Twisters is being described as “a new chapter” rather than a sequel to the original, and will see Edgar-Jones taking on the role as a former storm chaser now working a desk job after surviving a disastrous tornado encounter, who finds herself forced to go out into the breach once more.
Minari filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung is set to helm the film, following in the footsteps of Jan de Bont on the original, with Chung directing from a script by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant).
After her international breakthrough with her BAFTA and Golden Globe-nominated role in Normal People, Daisy Edgar-Jones has went on to appear in the features Fresh and Where the Crawdads Sing, as well as another Golden Globe nomination for the miniseries Under the Banner of Heaven.
