Bad Bunny’s Spider-Man spin-off movie El Muerto could be in danger, or at least having to work around his hectic schedule.
The rapper, singer, and sometimes WWE Superstar has quite a busy schedule, but working on his upcoming superhero movie could be placed on the back burner.
In what was supposed to be his breakout lead role, Bad Bunny (or Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) is supposed to be starring in the Spider-Man spin-off film El Muerto at Sony Pictures. Now in a new cover story with Time, we may not get the movie anytime soon.
According to Time, the star reportedly ‘feigned confusion’ and confirmed that filming has yet to take place. According to the outlet, Bad Bunny’s publicist later confirmed the movie is in development but is at a “standstill.”
Gareth Dunnet Alcocer (Blue Beetle) is attached to write the project, while Jonas Cuaron (Chupa) became attached to direct in October.
El Muerto will follow a wrestler with superpowers passed down from generation to generation in a single family. Originally from the Spider-Man comics, the character is an antihero and the son of a luchador, or Mexican wrestler, and next in line to inherit the ancestral power of El Muerto.
The upcoming El Muerto is set in the Spider-Man universe alongside Morbius, Venom, and upcoming projects like Kraven The Hunter and Madame Web.
El Muerto is set to hit cinemas on January 12th, 2024.
