We are half a decade removed from 2017’s Justice League shenanigans and still playing the “Will Batffleck still happen” thing. This time though, we could see what James Gunn is cooking for DC Studios.
During a recent interview, we saw Andy Muschietti and his producing partner Barbara Muschietti drop a significant update on the future of Ben Affleck in the role of Batman.
We know James Gunn & Peter Safran will soon launch their soft reboot of the DC Universe, giving DC Studios a new vision. Part of the upcoming film slate is Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Little is known about the project, but many have felt a new Batman will join. Things got even more interesting when Andy Muschietti was rumored to helm the project.
The Muschietti duo attempt to clarify the situation in a new interview with Total Film. Producer Barbara Muschietti said, “How do you know it’s his last time?” Director Andy Muschietti adds, “The truth is that the multiverse allows everything to happen.”
He continues, “As Bruce Wayne says [in The Flash], there are infinite timelines and inevitable intersections, and that’s one of the things that excited me about portraying the multiverse in this movie, is that it opens up the possibility to bring people back the moment you’d least expect. So I would like to think that it’s not a send-off; we’ll see.”
Could this be just hype for Muschietti’s upcoming film? Is Affleck really going to return to Batman again, leaving his life of Dunkin Donuts and Jennifer Lopez behind? Only time will tell.
You can see what is rumored to be one of Affleck’s last outings as The Flash races into cinemas worldwide.
Worlds collide in “The Flash” when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?
The Flash is directed by Andy Muschietti (It) and stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash alongside Kiersey Clemons (Iris West), Ben Affleck (Batman), Michael Keaton (Batman), Sasha Calle (Supergirl), Michael Shannon (General Zod), Antje Traue (Faora-Ul), Kiersey Clemons (Iris West), Ron Livingston (Henry Allen), and Maribel Verdu (Nora Allen).
